Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of the
Kart Mini chassis, took lead development driver Sebastian Ordonez to round one of the Skip Barber Regional Summer
Series held at Virginia International Raceway. The weekend would be one to remember for the young racer
as he scored double podiums in his debut race weekend. Ordonez tested with the Skip Barber crew on Thursday
and Friday and followed that up with two spectacular rounds of racing running on Saturday and Sunday. Taking
back-to-back podiums to start his car racing career sets the Skip Barber Scholarship winner as the man to beat
in 2010. The weather was good for the entire weekend despite much of the region being hit with severe storms.
In Saturday round one action the 15-year-old rookie driver would take pole and follow that with a strong win in the
final going from flag to flag to take the victory. In Sunday the cars would grid according to the Saturday final race
order, giving Ordonez the pole to start the race for a second straight day. The action was heavy off the start as the
drivers turned up the heat for day two of competition. At the VIR the draft would be a key part, as Ordonez would
slip back to fourth early on in the race. He would work his way back to the lead, only to lose the draft in the closing
stages. Ordonez would again battle back to cross the line in the third spot, a second straight podium.
“Sebastian did a great job all weekend long,” comments Andre Serra, owner of RDD Motorsports. “He has really
taken to the single seater cars very nicely and his race craft is improving each time out.”

Back in action this week is RDD Junior driver Garrett Sargeant who is rejoining the team in the Junior class. Garrett
has sat out the last few races as he looked at making the move to the Junior ranks. Sargeant will be on track
at Palm Beach International Raceway all week as he learns the Kart Mini Junior package in both Rotax and TaG
Junior. While the rest of the RDD team takes a well deserved break this weekend, Garrett will be working out the
bugs and getting up to speed as he looks to join teammate Ordonez in junior action at the next round of the WSK
North American Series.
“I am really happy to be making the move to junior,” commented Sargeant. “I was getting too tall for the mini max
and couldn’t be a competitive as I would like to be.”
Up next for RDD Motorsports will be the WSK North American Series by CKI being held in Phoenix, AZ on May 14
- 16. That will be followed by the second round of the South Florida Rotax Max Challenge at Homestead Karting
outside of Miami.
