RDD Motorsports Victorious In Rotax Pan-Am Debut
RDD Motorsports takes four victories, sweeping the Rotax Max Junior
and Rotax Mini Max classes in the inaugural Rotax Pan-American
Challenge weekend

Logan Sargeant
Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the
exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis, headed
west to the lone star state of Texas and brought home a load of
hardware. The South Florida-based team ran three drivers in two
classes at the debut of the newest Rotax RMC series called The Rotax Pan-American Challenge held at the MSR Houston Karting facility. Lead by
Rotax Max Junior standout Sebastian Ordonez, the team laid down a
strong performance and hit the podium five times. Joining Ordonez were
RDD Rotax Mini Max drivers Dalton and Logan Sargeant. The brothers put
on solid runs and overcame adversity to take away one win a piece.
“The boys did a great job. Sebastian was awesome all weekend,”
comments Andre Serra, owner of RDD Motorsports. “It was great to see
Loggie (Logan) get his first win in Mini Max. He is really excited.”
In Rotax Junior Max it was a clean sweep of the weekend for Ordonez as
he took top spot in every session in both days of competition. On
Saturday the talented 15 year-old grabbed pole and followed that up
with a win in the prefinal by over eight seconds. A five second
penalty was handed to the pole sitter for being too fast but was not
enough to take the win. Ordonez would shake off the penalty and from
his pole position; lead all the laps to take the final win. Sunday
would be a repeat for Ordonez as he again swept the day taking pole in
qualifying followed by the win in the prefinal and top spot in the
final.
“I was really happy with my Kart Mini all weekend long,” commented
Ordonez. “The track was great and we had a set-up that was really good
all weekend long.”
This weekend Ordonez will head to Virginia International Raceway for
the opening round of the Skip Barber Summer Series. Ordonez will be
testing with the Skip Barber crew on Thursday and Friday followed by
two rounds of racing running on Saturday and Sunday.
In Rotax Mini Max day one action it was Dalton Sargeant all day long.
The young Kart Mini driver took pole in qualifying and followed that
up with a win in the prefinal and the win in the final. Teammate Logan
had a less successful day as he battled the track and tech. In
qualifying Logan was only able to grab a seventh spot and in the
prefinal he was DQ’d before the event for a non-compliant clutch stall
speed. The team would replace the worn component for the final and
Logan would charge forward from last place to grab sixth at the line.
On Sunday, Dalton would again grab pole with Logan crossing in second
spot to make it an all-RDD/Kart Mini front row for the prefinal. At
the end of the prefinal it would be Dalton, first to the finish line
and Logan taking third spot. In the final Dalton would jump to the
lead and battle to retain the top spot throughout the race. On the
last lap Dalton, holding the lead spot, would get punted off the track
by the second place kart. As the two karts spun off the track, Logan,
running in third, would inherit the lead and the win. Dalton would
gather up his kart and get back on track to finish in second place and
share the podium with his younger brother.
“I am so excited to get my first win in Mini Max,” beamed Logan
Sargeant. “It wasn’t a pretty win, but a win anyway. I’ll take it and
I look forward to getting more.”
Up next for RDD Motorsports will be the WSK North American Series by
CKI being held in Phoenix, AZ on May 14 - 16. That will be followed by
the second round of the South Florida RMax Challenge at Homestead
Karting outside of Miami. The RDD Motorsports team will head back to
Las Vegas for the SuperNats late in the year.
