Ordonez Completes Skip Barber School
RDD Motorsports Junior driver completes three-day course at Sebring International Raceway

Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of he Kart Mini chassis, saw one of
their drivers take the next step in his racing career. Sebastian
Ordonez of Aventura, Florida completed a three-day driving program
with the famed Skip Barber Racing School this past weekend. Under
sunny skies the talented 15-year-old completed nearly 200 laps of the
challenging Sebring facility running the Sebring Half Track
configuration. Famous the world over, Sebring's airport runways and
permanent road course are utilized by Skip Barber Racing including the
classic 17-turn, 3.7 mile "12 Hours of Sebring" configuration.
“The school was great and everyone at Skip was awesome,” comments the
South Florida native. “The car felt really good, and I was able to
pick up on the small details quickly which really helped over the
three days.”
Ordonez was at ease behind the wheel of the 2-litre, open wheel Skip
Barber cars with 150 horsepower at his command and hitting top speeds
of 150 mph. All scheduled days were completed smoothly and saw day one
end with an intense series of autocross, braking and downshifting
exercises with special attention on double-clutch/heel-and-toe
downshifting. Day two would see the RDD Kart Mini pilot go through a
series of high-speed lapping sessions combined with racing theory and
advanced braking techniques. The final day was a selection of track
drills in drafting, passing and racing in the rain, double-file race
starts and single-file restarts.
The three-day school was completed in advance of the much anticipated
Karting Shoot-out. Skip Barber Racing School will return to Sebring
International Raceway this December for the 13th edition of its’ annual Karting Scholarship Shoot-out. The event, the largest and
single most important event for karters transitioning to racecars, is
scheduled for December 27 through December 30, 2009 at the central
Florida circuit.
“I think doing the school at Sebring will be a big help when we come
back for the Shoot-out in December,” continues Ordonez. “I am looking
forward to making the most of this great opportunity.”
Ordonez has been a standout in Rotax Junior competing at both the
regional and national level with RRD Motorsports for the past two
seasons. Competing in Rotax Junior, Ordonez has visited the podium on
multiple occasions through out his karting career. He is currently
with the RRD Kart Mini Team preparing for the 2010 Florida Winter Tour.
“I really enjoyed seeing Sebastian in the race car,” states team
principal André Serra. “I have worked with a lot of drivers over the
years, and Sebastian looked very much at home behind the wheel.”
