RDD Motorsports heads back to Rotax action
South Florida-based Kart Mini team has super strong outing in road course program following major success in Speedway program.
Deerfield Beach, FL – RDD Motorsports of Deerfield Beach, Florida, the exclusive North American importer of the Kart Mini chassis, jumped back in the Kart Mini sprint kart program following a successful trip up the east coast to run in Bandoleros. This past weekend all four RDD Kart Mini drivers returned for round two of the South Florida R-max Challenge Series held at the Homestead Karting facility.
“All of our RDD Motorsports drivers continue to collect valuable championship points in each classification we contest,” comments team manager Andre Serra. “The past few weeks have really tested the drivers’ ability to learn and adapt and all have come through with excellent results.”
In Micro Max 12 karts headed to the track for competition. Logan Sargeant, piloting the #524 Kart Mini cadet kart, continued his winning ways in the Micro Max class. Logan would make the triple play by sweeping the weekend with pole in qualifying, winning the prefinal and taking the final by ten kart lengths.
RDD Motorsports would have two drivers in the Mini Max class. Dalton Sargeant lead the way in kart #441 qualifying in second at 0.028 off the pole time. Dalton would go on to finish in fifth in the prefinal as a tough battle put him back a couple of spots from his starting position. The young driver would rally in the final and charge forward to grab the second step of the podium. In the final Dalton was able to make passes on laps 2, 4 and 5 to move up to the second.
Also contesting the 12 kart field in Mini Max for RDD was Garrett Sargeant aboard kart #411. Just off on the setup, Garrett would sit in sixth spot after qualifying. Garrett would hold onto the sixth spot in the prefinal and convert that into a top five, finishing the final crossing the stripe in fifth spot.
Sebastian Ordonez would be the lone RDD motorsports Kart Mini driver in the Junior Max classification. Ordonez qualified in third in the field of 14 drivers. The ultra quick Columbian would finish in third for the prefinal. A good start moved him into second and he would charge to take the lead on lap three. Ordonez would be demoted to fifth on the next lap by a freight train of karts. In the end Ordonez battled kart #51 to retain a top five finish taking the fifth position at the line.
“The entire RDD Motorsports Kart Mini team will continue to prepare for the next round in a few weeks time and will continue to work on our Speedway kart program,” states Serra. “The Kart Mini chassis continues to deliver strong results and we will look for find more speed where we can.”
The Kart Mini/RDD Motorsports Team will be at the next round of the South Florida R-max Challenge being held the first weekend in May at Homestead Karting.
